Something Stinks in the Story of Sabu
by admin
Spoiler: nearly all of Anonymous appears to be willing to trust information from organizations they seem to normally consider their enemies. Also, GoDaddy is suspicious.
Apparently it has not occurred to anyone that all information in the case of Sabu and the LulzSec arrests, originates from either the FBI itself, or Fox News (through some kind of ‘inside source’). Think about this for a second. What was the law enforcement organization that Anons appear to almost universally hate? The FBI. What was the news outlet known for it’s shoddy reporting and unreliable reports, despised by many Anons? Fox News.
Is it really a good idea to blindly trust information coming from these two, at best questionable, sources? Does anyone really believe that “Fox News would never make this up” or “the FBI would never issue false documents”? There does not seem to be any information whatsoever from any source other than these two, so is it really a good idea to assume the ‘official story’ is what happened?
Yet, never before have Anons and other internet creatures been seen so quickly turning on someone they idolized only days before. The #FuckSabu hashtag is widely used, people are calling for the release of all Anons ‘except for Sabu’, articles are being written detailing how he personally ratted out LulzSec, lured Anons into traps, and in the meantime killed kittens erryday.
Really, guys?
For another interesting turn of the plot: does anyone remember how Sabu was initially ‘doxed’? According to this Ars Technica article, his personal information was found when his WHOIS protection dropped after renewing the prvt.org domain, which was known to belong to Sabu.
Wait a second. Who owns Domains By Proxy?
Yes, Domains By Proxy, the WHOIS protection service used by Sabu, is part of GoDaddy. Remember how GoDaddy spoke out in support of SOPA, and was caught in backfire from ‘the internet’? Remember how they have a history of shutting down controversial domains? Remember how they are in US jurisdiction and appear to consider US law enforcement to be important, no matter how bad it may turn out for other people?
Hey, wait a second, GoDaddy has of course always had Sabu’s contact information on file, despite the WHOIS protection! Yet it’s claimed that Sabu was found because he connected to an Anonymous-related IRC network without using appropriate protection – a claim that, considering Sabu’s IRC habits, sounds quite unrealistic.
Something to think about.
Update: Peter Bright from Ars Technica clarified that the WHOIS exposure was not the source for the initial doxing of Sabu. This does not change the above conclusion that GoDaddy has always had Sabu’s contact details (even before the exposure), but it is still worth pointing out.
If sabu ratted on hes friends you can kinda understand he wasent in a position to do nothing other than rat on hes friends to save hes own arse. Hes got a life to but then again you might look at it that he got jake and ryan involed in all this mess and then brought them down with him ? skum ? i think we should take a different look on this.
As said many times before the Goverment and Media are not to be trusted and that goes for the FBI too. Its all one big scam and too all fellow hackers out there be very carefull who you trust.
Try to lay off the marry-joe-anna for few days and keep a clear head.
//End of rant, untill next time!
Thx. Yea, something smells, but I guess we’re still looking for the dead rat.
You raise some excellent points. Who can trust an ‘official story’ put out by FBI and Fox News as the only sources of information? This could be dis-information to lower moral. The fire is light and this can either dampen or fan the flames.
I think its great you’re presenting a balanced counter argument to this case.
Certainly all US government agencies have a questionable history with the truth.
One thing I really hope this case above all gives to the anonymous community is more caution regarding anonimity. Due to the attitude of law enforcement worldwide to target individuals protesting in this manner and treat them as criminals or terrorists it more important than ever for “anons” to ensure they are “clean”.
And that means from top to bottom. So if one chooses to establish an online profile for hacktivism, one MUST start from the absolute beginning to ensure there are ABSOLUTELY NO links from the online profile back its creator. Clearly this is difficult to do, but hopefully this episode will encourage anons to get creative about how they can do this.
And share this information widely.
Its also worth pointing out that the moment you choose an “identity” online, you’re no long anonymous – a collection of events and actions can be linked and attributed to an individual.
If EVERY anon were to randomly change their profile name online each day – then, truely, would the “feds” have no chance to identify individuals.

You’re an idiot.
You got molested.
You don’t even hear the phrase ‘innocent until proven guilty’ anymore.
Yes you do, just never from the media or law enforcement.
I don’t believe anything until I have evidence and neither should anyone else. The media lies, our government lies, controlled companies lie. The truth is out there.
Reference Occam’s razor, is this really the simplest explanation? What’s written between the lines is that there is a vast conspiracy between the FBI and Fox News to smear a man who’s going to march into court in a few months in a huge public case and get a lot of leniency for informing.
Why would they destroy their own credibility if he’s just going to go to court and say “It’s all a lie!!!! I love Anonymous!!!! I never ratted anyone!!!”
I KNOW you all have broken hearts over dear leader, but this is just pathetic denial.
There is one big thing you guys over looked as well as almost everyone on Yahoo that I seen commenting on this subject. He was supposedly an informant for the FBI correct? Then why would they give up their best weapon against us by making his name public? If he truly were a informant would they not have kept his name a secret and do everything they could to keep it that way? The FBI giving up one of “the worlds most wanted hackers” and a trusted member in our collective makes absolutely no sense at all. I mean really think about the damage he could have actually done if they just kept his name out of the media. I do agree this whole thing stinks something awful. To end in closing let me point out that the FBI has rarely had an issue keeping it’s informants secretive why start giving them away now and for only 5 guys…It makes no tactical sense whatsoever.
Tactical sense? Are you high?
How much damage should they have let him and his crew done until they stopped them? Let them go for years and cause more damage? Its bad enough they let it go on this long. State sponsored crime.
They got the evidence that they needed to identify some of the “key” individuals in the crimes, and that would be all they wanted.
Look at some of the stories with first hand accounts, and all the people that thought something was wrong when eh came back from his little “vacation”
They publicized his name to make it harder for him to involve himself back into Lulzsec activities and also , I think he pissed off the FBI , or they just burnt him because they are that way. The fact that they burnt him doesn’t mean that he isn’t a rat. And they could be putting him into a witness protection program after trials so they don’t care anyway. There are many reasons possible as to why they burnt him, it certainly doen’t prove he isn’t a traitor and is trustworthy now. They may have burnt him just so people would say well why would they burn him , this must be BS and to make them think maybe he isn’t a rat.Just like it made you conclude. He probably did all the damage he could and they were done with him,so what the heck, and the way they did it, he was burnt anyway and in paperwork, and he will probably be testifying, either way he was going to be burnt anyway. This guys so worried about being away from his children he gave everybody up but did he think about what it could mean to them for him to be a highly publicized snitch for FBI?Especially living in the projects in New York? LOl Either they wanted to burn him and endanger him or they are moving him out of the projects and into witness protection.Maybe they want to put his traitor/computer skills to work for them more in the future. I am sure they gave him plenty of cash for his help along with consideration, in his cases. He got sloppy and got caught and he should of took it like a stand up guy instead of believing the FBI and their threats and interrogation techniques, they probably had a crap case and had to convince him he would never see his kids again or something,so he spilled it all. Anybody who followed him on twitter or he tweeted, will be suspect now as well, they have many people and IP addresses to look at.
While not to discount this as a possibility, I find this kind of unlikely. I would also like to ask what that godaddy has to do with anything, or why you think that every anon loved him… This was not the case.
I’d also like to point to the numerous first hand accounts claiming that Sabu seemed odd when he returned from his unannounced “vacation”
What I was trying to get at here is if he was an informant would he not better the FBI’s chance of finding more “hackers” if he was still free. An informant is useless once imprisoned. Why arrest the informant with the rest of his “crew”. I was not implying that all of the other guys would not have been arrested in the sting. It just seems fishy that they would waste and informant of his “supposed” caliber on only 5 guys.
Something stinks and I wouldn’t trust anyone about anything that’s going on in the hacker world. That’s the way of the internet and apparently the world when it comes to the powers that be. I don’t know anything about hacking but I know joepie91 has been implicated in Lulz Sec through chat logs and is still free (although those chat logs could be false too). Laurelai Bailey aka @stuxnetsource has also been implicated in chat logs and it was reported in a news article that her house was apparently searched by the FBI last June or July and she’s still free. So it’s possible that both could be agents from the get go, or turned into informers or never even existed. Or innocent. Who knows.
Anon’s also trust Barrett Brown….
i personally read over sabus pii on jesters website 2 weeks before the take down, i have personally wondered these same thoughts what a great feather in the fbi cap to claim they took out the leader of a leaderless group. Fox news is false news. I did not want to go against the grain for it seemed as if all anons were on board with the fucksabu ideology, but maybe it was a hoax maybe it was made up maybe they have corrupted us. We the leaders of truth and transparency could have advocated lies and opacity. innocent until proven guilty. just a thought umad?
yeah, inciting public distrust toward fox news? welcome to 2006 newfag. way to stay ahead of the curve.
Sabu only occasionally tweeted in beginning. since his “vacation”sabu trippled his tweets and brought many new anons in. even WHEN he was hooked he still used his time to enlarge the anon-community. dont be too quick in condemning. Who of us trusted fbi&fox before this?
They outed Sabu because before this hackers didn’t have an id in the mass media. It’s like 911 had osama now so called hacking has sabu. They using him to say look a hacker could be anyone you might want check out your neighbors. Kinda like the 50s red scare. It’s just a thought and the us government has used misinformation in the past.
Sabu is indeed a POS. The New York Times detailed the complaints from his neighbor. Those complaints show someone who tortured his neighbor for fun and Sabu even made cryptic threats about doing something to a neighbor who had caused him trouble. The kids are not his, they belong to an aunt who is doing her second prison term for dope dealing. Sabu’s father did a stretch for dope dealing. Sabu committed several financial crimes that have been revealed. Who knows how many more.
Sabu is a lowlife, from a family of lowlifes. The FBI and “Justice” Department can have him.
Does anyone here have any sense of the fact that sabu may have done something shitty but he was still friends to some people in the community. Not everyone is going to turn their back on him, so give it a fucking rest already.
I’m finding more often than not, the people most vocal about sabu being a “rat” are the ones butthurt because they were fanboys and now they look like fucking retards because Fearless Leader turned out to be human.
To be honest, I hope all of you who wish him harm get the same fate. Most of your skiddie asses should stick to what you know. ..which is not a whole hellava lot.
Don’t get me wrong. No one likes it when this shit happens, but it is what it is. He did what he did NOT to be a dick, but to save his ass. God damn, is everyone on twitter mental, or just the ones that are “anonymous”? Ghay. You furfags need to drop your balls and grow up.
The oldest trick in the book cops use is “your friends ratted you out”. It doesn’t take much IQ to work out they are lying through their teeth. Only will you very rarely meet a cop who doesn’t try this trick on you, but his colleagues will.
Create mistrust, maybe the less wise will rat in return to those comments. Of course what you say to the cops is used in court against you, never what the cops say to you. Those remarks are all conveniently made before the tape rolls. They will stitch you up so bad and who is going to believe a word you say? Before they test their setup script on you they will have tried it on a number of poor they picked up off the street.
There are few good cops and there are many of bad cops – that’s what a lawyers for man, to try and save you from the frame-up! Many bad cops still serving and man you couldn’t believe the lengths they go.
Have you ever considered about including a little
bit more than just your articles? I mean, what you
say is fundamental and everything. Nevertheless just imagine if you added some
great visuals or videos to give your posts more,
“pop”! Your content is excellent but with images and video clips, this blog could certainly be one of the greatest in its field.
Good blog!
